Menses // hello this is a post for those who menstruate 🌹🌙🥀 . I love talking about menstrual health with clients, customers and friends, but I realized I haven’t honored that part of myself on here! Like many folks who bleed every month, I’ve struggled with a lot of menstrual issues. It’s actually the reason I became an herbalist and health coach 💕 . When I was in college, I walked into the supplements section of a beautiful co-op looking for ibuprofen for my cramps! Luckily, a very sweet woman kindly let me know that they didn’t carry ibuprofen in the store, gently explained that it was harmful and disruptive to the body, and guided me to some herbal allies to help with menstrual cramps. ♥️ And that is how a baby herbalist is born 🙏🏽🌿😍 . In honor and gratitude to that guidance, I’d like to share the things that ease my cycles, in no particular order . l i f e s t y l e • heat packs / hot water bottle / hot bath • emergencies: stick on hot patch things, for either lower back or uterine area • not using tampons or menstrual cups • switching to all natural pads (no bleach / chlorine / other yuck chemicals) • yoni steams (google it) • charting my cycles with the moon phases (pictured) • hip-opener stretches and cat-cow • getting off the pill • discovering & eliminating food sensitivities • reading The Red Tent • applying salves / warming oil to my belly & lower back • slowing down, esp when flowing, when possible • keeping my body warm, especially feet, ankles, abdomen area, neck & calves • reducing caffeine intake when I’m bleeding • honoring that my intuition is keener when I’m bleeding & listening to it and noticing how it speaks to me h e r b s • crampbark tincture • raspberry leaf or lady’s mantle tea • chai tea, hot & spicy • ginger tea / gin-gin candies for on the go • anti-spasmotic herbs for cramps like chamomile, crampbark, passionflower... • for PMS / mood - nervine herbs CONTINUED IN COMMENTS 👇
